Monument of Envy, Haskovo
Haskovo in Haskovo, BulgariaThe world's first and only Monument of Envy aka ""The Bulgarian Icarus"" was unveiled on September 8, 2014 in the town of Haskovo. It represents the sculpture of a man who has spread his arms bearing wings of feathers in an excited effort to take flight, but two hands of a human skeleton hold his wings in a grip, pulling them down and trying to break them. The idea for making a monument of envy materialized into a sculpture in the hands of Gospodin Tenev aka Guspata, the author of a number of other art installations in Haskovo: the sculpture of the folktale witch Baba Yaga, the owl in front of the townhall, the sculptures on the Orange bridge, the monument to the painter Litso.
